Arctic Basecamp, a leading not-for-profit authority on the global risks associated with climate change, has developed a groundbreaking new tool “Climate Risks Daily” – billed as a daily dose of aggregated climate news from around the world. This AI-powered global risk aggregator offers a comprehensive solution for monitoring and understanding the scale of global climate risks and weather occurrences - in real time, all over the globe, translated from 100 languages.

This AI-powered tool was developed by Arctic Basecamp in collaboration with ODE (the same agency responsible for Al Gore’s acclaimed Climate Trace) and stands at the forefront of technological innovation in climate science. The concept was unveiled at the World Economic Forum in Davos and, following extensive development, Arctic Basecamp is delighted to launch the web tool today with a mobile app coming in the next few weeks.

We believe that informed decision-making is crucial in addressing the complex challenges posed by climate change. Climate Risks Daily is designed to empower journalists, individuals, businesses, and policymakers with real-time information on global climate risks, ultimately contributing to more effective climate action including mitigation and importantly - adaptation.

Climate Risks Daily currently operates in two distinct modes: the first consolidates global news stories specifically related to extreme weather events daily, providing users with up-to-the-minute insights into the scale of climate-related incidents worldwide. The second mode highlights news stories relating to polar issues, the biggest amplifier of climate change effects globally.

Both modes include content translated from 100 languages into English using advanced AI language translation capabilities.

This is quite an impressive use of AI: one of the more useful AI tools I’ve seen, and frankly a little scary. The Climate Risks Daily AI tool would be useful for weather professionals, and science writers on a climate or biology beat, not taking over reporting or writing, but actually summarizing all the news that links to their topic, in real time.
